My name is Kori. I’m both an alumnus and a staff member at California Prime Recovery, where I now serve as the Alumni Coordinator. My journey here began in 2020 as a client. From there, I became a house manager, then a behavioral technician, and eventually transitioned into my current role.
What stood out to me most from the very beginning was how supportive this company has been. Starting as a client and later expressing interest in working in the recovery field, CPR gave me the opportunity and guidance to transition from client to staff.
This place has had a profound impact on my life. CPR provided me with a strong foundation in recovery, a safe environment to heal, and the support to try new things as I built a new life. The staff here are deeply invested in every client’s recovery and treatment plan. They go above and beyond, sharing their own experiences and ensuring each person feels seen, supported, and cared for.
For me, the biggest change was finding safety and security. California Prime Recovery allowed me to feel safe enough to take risks, to try new approaches—that became the method that worked best for my recovery.
If I could give advice, it would be this: don’t be afraid to give yourself a new experience. That’s what helps you change your lifestyle. Good people are out there, and they want to support you. Asking for help is okay—it’s actually one of the strongest things you can do.
Coming here for treatment, and later working here, has been the best decision I’ve made as an adult. I couldn’t have asked for a better support system as I entered recovery and built a new life in a new state.
