Alcohol and Drug Rehab in Oakland, CA
Oakland, CA is one of the busiest, most populated cities in the San Francisco Bay Area with a thriving shipping port and a number of industries historically attracting a culturally diverse community of residents. Its mild, mediterranean climate ensures warm weather for more than 250 days a year.
Unfortunately, Oakland has also been central to narcotics, heroin and cocaine distribution on the west coast. This has led to a widespread abuse of substances including alcohol, illicit drugs and opioids. The city of Oakland has seen a soaring increase in deaths due to substances such as fentanyl and other amphetamines. The upside of this situation is that the number of rehabs have more than doubled in recent years, thanks to the state of California’s Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System program.
Where can I find Addiction Treatment in Oakland, CA?
Oakland offers a wide range of addiction treatment services including initial assessment, detoxification, medically assisted treatment, therapy, outpatient and aftercare support. Depending on the type of facility, some rehabs may handle opioid and prescription medication addictions, in addition to alcohol and other substances. Some treatment centers solely focus on inpatient detox treatment, whereas a few of them offer extended programs such as partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services.
Residents of Oakland know that the city is home to many triggers that can tamper with one’s recovery so seeking treatment away from the city is a more supportive choice. Alcohol and Drug Rehab in OAKLAND, CA
Can I find Alcohol Rehab in Oakland, CA?
Although Oakland has been a hub for cocaine, heroin and other illicit drugs, alcohol still remains the most abused substance. There are many treatment centers for alcohol rehab where treatment for addiction is determined by current alcohol use, co-occurring disorders, and current health condition, mental and physical. The most effective treatments are medical detox, followed by residential inpatient treatment for alcoholism. Partial Hospitalization Programs and Intensive Outpatient Programs are options depending on the patient’s needs. Behavioral therapies and alcohol addiction support groups are an important part of long term recovery.
California Prime Recovery, located in Orange County, CA, provides a variety of long term recovery options, including partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment, and outpatient programs. We also offer dual diagnosis to treat patients who have co-occurring disorders.

General Information
What Treatment Options Exist in Oakland, CA?
Rehabs in Oakland CA offer a wide range of treatment options, depending on what they specialize in. Oakland has several rehab centers that provide a variety of treatment options for drug and alcohol addiction issues, as well as some that provide treatment options for mental health issues. Be sure to inquire about each rehab’s services before you choose the right one for your long term recovery.
Our treatment center, California Prime Recovery, provides several outpatient rehab options such as Outpatient Program (OP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), as well as dual diagnosis and mental health treatment.
Outpatient
Outpatient rehab is a good first line of defense for anybody who is struggling with a mild to moderate addiction. If you’ve never had a problem with addiction before, or if you’ve never attended a rehab treatment, outpatient may be a good place to start.
Outpatient is much more affordable, and allows people more freedoms, but it can be more of a challenge. While outpatient rehab allows you to maintain your current work, school, or life schedule, you have to be confident in your determination and your ability to resist temptation while you’re away from the facility.
If you think that you can handle that, then great! Outpatient rehab will be more than enough for you.
Intensive Outpatient
IOP programs are more demanding than regular outpatient programs, often requiring up to 30 hours per week of commitment to counseling and coaching. Clients usually have to agree to participate in programs for at least a couple of months; they also tend to end up in an IOP coming from the top-down (as in, from an even more intensive program) rather than bottom-up.
No matter how you arrive you’re still able to maintain your regular schedule, though: our professionals can work around that. All of our programs are designed to be easy enough to integrate into a schedule as long as you can be flexible.
The programs at an IOP are less rigorous than those of a PHP and thus more affordable.
Partial Hospitalization Programs
PHP programs are designed to function as a sort of halfway point between inpatient rehab and outpatient rehab. Most patients that we have in PHP just completed an inpatient program and aren’t feeling comfortable enough to return to society.
Typically courses run throughout most of the day. Patients are still allowed to return home in the evenings and on weekends, but the more stringent demands and scheduling makes this option more effective for people with serious addictions. It’s about as close to an inpatient program as you can get without an actual inpatient program.
What is the Cost of Rehab in Oakland, CA?
Cost of rehab can vary based on the type of facility and the services they offer, and also depends on the needs of the individuals seeking treatment. Alcohol and Drug Rehab includes several phases of treatment such as Drug Detox, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient programs for successful long term recovery. Medical detox and inpatient programs are the most expensive, whereas partial hospitalization programs and outpatient programs may cost less per day. Many rehabs offer payment plans and other payment options. Some of the better addiction treatment centers offer individualized treatment plans, leading to more success than in-and-out detox centers.
Looking at cost alone may not be a good way to choose a rehab that’s right for you if the rehab doesn’t offer a long term success plan. Make sure to inquire about the treatment programs offered and compare the costs of the treatment centers you prefer.
If you need recovery support and payment options, please reach out at 866-486-1876 or text us at 949-749-3026.
Can I Pay With Insurance for Rehab in Oakland, CA?
If you have private insurance, they are required to cover at least a portion of your alcohol and drug rehab. Although not all rehabs accept private insurance, and only some of them accept Medicaid, don’t let the cost of rehab stop you from recovery. California Prime accepts most insurance providers, and payment plans are also available. Here are some of the insurance providers we accept:
- MediNcrease
- First Health Network
- Health Net
- Cigna
- MHN

Is there a rehab near me?
There are hundreds of rehab options all around Oakland, CA. Located about 7 hours away, well outside the triggers and bustle of Oakland is California Prime Recovery in Orange County, a family owned and operated addiction treatment center for adults. All our services are provided in an alcohol and drug free environment.
Where can I find detox near me?
There are several addiction treatment centers in Oakland, California that include detox as part of their treatment programs. After you complete detox, California Prime Recovery offers excellent PHP and IOP programs for substance abuse and mental health issues at our drug-free facilities in Orange County.
Which treatment centers offer a PHP program near me?
Partial Hospitalization is a form of outpatient treatment that involves partial day care at the facility while receiving treatment for drug, alcohol or mental illness. Not all addiction treatment centers offer PHP programs. It’s best to check before you go. California Prime offers PHP programs to treat substance abuse and addiction once a client completes their detox and inpatient treatment.
Are there IOP programs near me?
IOP refers to the Intensive Outpatient Program, a transitional phase of treatment offered to addiction patients who have already completed, or do not need detoxification and inpatient treatments. This allows more freedom to patients while also attending programming at the treatment center. Since this is a transition between Inpatient and Outpatient programs, not all treatment centers offer IOP programs. California Prime’s IOP program is intended to provide a step down rehab care but with well-monitored outpatient treatment.
